Critical Consumer/ Reflection Questions
1. The role of innovation in new/ clean renewable energy is essential in reducing the amount of green house gas emissions, because they will reduce the demand for natural gas. If more technologies such as solar, wind and hydro electricity were to start to be implemented, the initial installation cost would be fairly pricey. However, in the long run people would eventually end up paying close to nothing for electricity. For Example, if an entire neighborhood were to convert to solar energy it will cost a significant amount of money to buy solar panels and have them installed. Once the panels are installed people will begin making that money back by no longer having to pay for electricity. Many of these grid level solar installations will generate enough electricity to not only supply a personal energy demand, but also generate excess energy that can go back to the grid and supply energy homes that are not getting there energy demand. In addition to going completely solar, lets say that for every household it was mandatory to own an electric car, the car would be powered by the energy that is being generated by the solar panels. Again, there will be an initial cost of the electric car but eventually both peoples homes and cars would essentially be powered for free.
